About
This beautiful 180 page hard cover book is a stunning color photographic journey across the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Lifelong local and professional photographer Erik Jay captures the best of Palos Verdes through single shot photography. Knowing every trail, nook and cranny of The Peninsula, Erik captures the essence of our community from a local’s perspective. He showcases hard to find hidden coves, ever-changing seasonal views and the unusual variety of flora and fauna unique to the geography and climate of our dynamic peninsula.
Included are photos of one-of-a-kind historic landmarks built in the 1920s inspired by European architecture after community-founder Frank Vanderlip felt the area had the charm of the Italian Riviera to the Modernist “glass church” designed by Lloyd Wright, the son of Frank Lloyd Wright and listed in the National Register of Historic Places as one of the foremost organic architecture examples.
This book is a celebration of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and reminds us of why we have chosen to live here. In honor of the Peninsula Education Foundation’s 40 years of service to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, Erik Jay and PV Publications have awarded exclusivity and formed a partnership with PEF to make this first edition of The Great Peninsula and the photos in it only available through the Peninsula Education Foundation.
